My little miracle while preparing patiently the release of Rebelleheart.
I am so excited - and a little proud - to share that I’ve been included in an anthology called Unmapped, edited by author Lizbeth Meredith.
Some months ago, after I had already decided to publish Rebelleheart on my own, I saw Lizbeth’s call in a memoir writers’ group on Facebook. She was looking for essays by women written during transformational solo journeys.
I sent in a small piece from my time in Normandy - not part of Rebelleheart, though written in exactly that period. Parts of those three weeks still live only in my journals, never transferred to my laptop. I had no expectations, no hopes, just a strong impulse to submit.
And she said she loved it - and included my piece!
For me, this means the world. Writing in a language that isn’t my mother tongue, being an unknown writer, and then being welcomed by a published author whose memoir Pieces of Me: Rescuing My Kidnapped Daughters was even adapted into a film (Stolen by Their Father) - it feels like a quiet miracle.
Unmapped is now available for pre-order on Amazon (US, UK, Australia, and Canada) and will be published in early October, with the paperback release following soon after.
Half the royalties support the YWCA’s mission to help women and families escape violence and reclaim their futures.
